Overview
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) conducts the State Services Examination (Rajyaseva) to recruit Gazetted officers for various administrative, police, and revenue posts in the Government of Maharashtra. These include prestigious Class A and Class B civil service roles like Deputy Collector, DySP, and Tehsildar.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Minimum Qualification: Graduation / Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Language: Sound knowledge of the Marathi language (reading, writing, and speaking) is mandatory.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 19 years
- Maximum Age (General): 38 years
- OBC / SC / ST / EWS: Up to 43 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxations apply as per government rules.
Selection Process
The MPSC State Services selection is done in three distinct stages:
1. Preliminary Examination (Objective)
- Paper I (General Studies): 100 Questions / 200 Marks / 2 hours
- Paper II (CSAT): 80 Questions / 200 Marks / 2 hours (Qualifying nature, 33% cutoff)
- Total Marks: 400. Negative marking of 25% (1/4th) per wrong answer.
2. Main Examination (Descriptive/Objective Pattern)
- Marathi & English (Descriptive): 100 Marks
- Marathi & English (Objective): 100 Marks
- General Studies (GS I, II, III, IV): 4 Papers / 150 Marks each
- Total Written: 800 Marks
3. Interview / Personality Test
- Candidates qualifying the Mains are called for a personality assessment interview.
- Interview Marks: 100 Marks
