The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Central Police Organisation (CPO) examination for the recruitment of Sub-Inspectors (SI) in Delhi Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) such as BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, and SSB. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification & Driver License
- Education: Graduation / Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Driving License (Only for Delhi Police SI): Male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests.
Age Limit
- General: 20 to 25 years
- OBC: 3 years relaxation (up to 28 years)
- SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (up to 30 years)
Selection Process
The SSC CPO selection process comprises four sequential stages:
1. Paper-I (Objective Test)
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Qs / 50 Marks / 2 hours (combined)
- General Knowledge: 50 Qs / 50 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude: 50 Qs / 50 Marks
- English Comprehension: 50 Qs / 50 Marks
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
2. Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Endurance Test (PET)
- Qualifying in nature.
- For Male Candidates: 100m race in 16s, 1.6km race in 6.5 mins, Long Jump (3.65m), High Jump (1.2m), Shot Put.
- For Female Candidates: 100m race in 18s, 800m race in 4 mins, Long Jump (2.7m), High Jump (0.9m).
3. Paper-II (English Language & Comprehension)
- English Language: 200 Questions / 200 Marks / 2 hours.
- Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer applies.
4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
- Medical standards checked by medical officers in CAPFs or central government hospitals.
Physical Standards (PST)
- Male (General Height): 170 cm, Chest: 80 cm (unexpanded) / 85 cm (expanded).
- Female (General Height): 157 cm.
- Height and chest relaxations apply for Hill Areas and ST candidates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is a driving license mandatory at the time of application?
No. A valid driving license for LMV is required only at the stage of the Physical Endurance Test (PET/PST) for the Delhi Police Sub-Inspector post. Candidates applying without a license will only be eligible for CAPF posts.
Q: Can women apply for Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police?
Yes. Vacancies are separately reserved for female candidates in both Delhi Police SI and CAPF units.
